WARNER ROBINS — In a recent interview, Mayor Larhonda Patrick of Warner Robins shared exciting achievements on the city’s progress from 2023 and her commitment to creating positive change.

Among the notable achievements is the initiation of a groundbreaking homeless initiative and the acquisition of the city’s first homeless shelter. Mayor Patrick expressed pride in the historic pay raises for city employees, emphasizing the adjustment of the pay scale to a minimum of fifteen dollars and fifty cents.

The mayor explained that these positive changes were made possible by reallocating funds that had been historically set aside in various departments but remained unused for years.

Despite the financial shifts, Patrick assured the community that Warner Robins is in an excellent position for upcoming budgets.

When asked about her proudest accomplishment, Mayor Patrick stated, “I’m most proud of doing exactly what I told the people I would do.” However, she acknowledged the challenges she faced as a female, a minority, and an African American in leadership roles. Patrick recounted instances where she was the only woman or minority at boardroom tables, facing dismissive attitudes and a lack of acknowledgment.

Nevertheless, Mayor Patrick remains committed to serving her city, seeing herself as a trailblazer for other women. She attributed her perseverance to prayer and her unwavering faith, declaring, “There’s no weapon that is formed against me that shall prosper.”

Looking forward to 2024, Mayor Patrick outlined key goals for the city. One highlight is the upcoming “demolition party” in the downtown district, a collaborative effort with the UGA College of Engineering to revitalize the area’s infrastructure. Another objective involves optimizing revenue by addressing unpaid sewer and water fees, with an eye on bolstering the general fund.

The ambitious plans also include further development in the Robins Industrial Park, the imminent opening of Haven Hope House, and the revitalization of city parks.

Additionally, Mayor Patrick revealed an exciting addition to Warner Robins’ calendar—the International City Festival, set to debut in March, coinciding with the city’s birthday.

The Mayor also confirmed exclusively with WGXA that she’s plans to run for a second term.
